Spring 2027
Road / Gravel
7 days / 6 nights

There’s a reason more professional cyclists live in Girona than anywhere else on earth. Tucked between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, this medieval Catalan city sits at the center of a web of quiet, world-class roads. Within ten minutes of rolling out of the old town, the traffic is gone and you’re climbing into farmland, forest, and foothills.
This is a week spent riding where the pros ride. You’ll test yourself on the Rocacorba. You’ll spin out to the Costa Brava for cliff-top coastal roads and sea-view descents. You’ll climb Els Àngels straight from the city, refuel at the summit sanctuary café, and drop back into town for a cortado in the same squares the pros do. Every day offers multiple group options, so you ride at the pace that’s right for you.
Off the bike, Girona rewards you just as richly. You’ll stay in the Barri Vell, the walled old town of cobbled streets, Gothic architecture, and riverside cafés. This place was the stunt double for King’s Landing and Braavos in Game of Thrones. Long lunches, great coffee, Catalan wine, and a genuine, working cycling culture that isn’t putting on a show for tourists.
We’ll shuttle you to our home base in Girona, get everyone settled, and start assembling bikes.
No riding today — just logistics, introductions, and an easy evening to get your bearings.
The classic Girona opener. An easy roll out of the old town into the farmland, then the gentle grind up to the Els Àngels sanctuary — the “coffee ride” every pro in town cuts their teeth on. Café at the top, easy spin back down.
Just enough to shake out the travel legs and dial in the bike.
Ride: Girona → Els Àngels → return
Today is about waking up the legs and testing the setup.
We’ll roll out for a light spin through the local countryside and shake off the travel haze.
Easy pace, big views, and a few short efforts to feel fast again.
Evening: Tour of Flanders briefing + nutrition prep
The benchmark. Rocacorba is the climb the Girona pros use to test their form — around 10.5 km averaging ~7%, with the steep ramps saved for the top and the Banyoles reservoir opening up below you.
There’s no rhythm to hide in. Ride it at your own number and enjoy the view from the towers at the summit.
Ride: Girona → Banyoles → Rocacorba → return
Head east through the quiet back roads and medieval villages toward the Mediterranean, dropping down to the coast at Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Ribbon coastal roads, the Sant Grau climb, and a seaside lunch stop before turning for home.
The most scenic day of the week — cameras out.
Ride: Girona → Santa Pellaia → Sant Feliu → Sant Grau → return
The queen stage: the long haul north to Mare de Déu del Mont, one of the biggest and most rewarding climbs in the region — roughly 20 km of steady climbing to the hermitage at the top, with the Pyrenees on the horizon.
Fuel well, pace it patiently, and earn the descent.
Ride: Girona → Besalú → Mare de Déu del Mont → return
A relaxed send-off through the storybook villages east of Girona — Madremanya, Monells, Els Metges — on quiet lanes and easy gravel. Rolling, unhurried, and built around a long café stop.
A gentle final day to spin the legs out before you travel home.
Ride: Girona → Madremanya → Monells → return
We base the camp in Girona’s Barri Vell — the medieval old town, and the beating heart of the city. Cobblestone streets wind up to the cathedral. The Onyar River runs through the middle, lined with the colored houses the city is known for. Cross a bridge and you’re in Plaça de la Independència, ringed with café terraces perfect for an easy dinner after a hard day.
It’s the ideal après-vélo base: everything’s walkable, the coffee’s excellent, and you can wander the old city walls at golden hour before dinner. You’ll sleep inside a thousand-year-old walled city and wake up to ride the roads of the professional peloton — a combination no other cycling destination can offer.
